FAQ

What is The Lost New Year’s?

The Lost New Year’s is a series of looped performances that will be broadcast on Zoom for twenty-five hours from 5:30 AM on Thursday, December 31st EST through 6:30 AM on Friday, January 1st EST. At 11:30 PM in each time zone around the world, our Host will unlock the door to the Lost House and begin his search for the party. Who knows what he will discover along the way?

Is this event Sleep No More related or affiliated?

No. Like this fall’s Lost Halloween event, the idea is inspired by the infamous McKittrick Hotel where Sleep No More ran for nine years before COVID paused the show. That said, this event is not affiliated with, produced by, funded by, in collaboration with, or related to any Sleep No More, Punchdrunk, or Emursive venture. We’re a group of immersive fans creating their own alternative events that are a celebration of NYC immersive and an opportunity to give back to the people who worked in this particular niche of the mostly off-off-Broadway theater industry.

Who is hosting this event? Are you the same group that hosted The Lost Halloween?

Yes, The Lost New Year’s is being hosted by the same group that hosted The Lost Halloween. We’re a small group of friends who have seen dozens of immersive shows around the world, who are based all around the U.S., and who met and became friends through attending NYC-based immersive theater. We come from a variety of backgrounds, including professional theater, fundraising, event management, arts administration, journalism and writing arts, the tech industry, education, and the visual arts. Specifically, we are Dee Anne, Desiree, Frost, Natalie, KaeLyn, Kayleigh, Lauren, Lisa, Mike, Morgan, Philippe, Richard, and Waffle. You may know us from around the Sleep No More Tumblr world or from Eschaton’s fan community. We are excited to give back to the community that has changed our lives.

Is The Lost New Year’s a fundraiser like The Lost Halloween?

The Lost New Year’s will include a chance for visitors to give generously to the artists who are performing during this 25-hour party, but it is not a general fundraiser for immersive theatre professionals this time around. Don’t despair, however. We hope to return to a larger fundraising event in 2021. Perhaps when the snow melts and the May flowers begin to bloom, we will find the key that opens a rusty garden gate. One can only hope…

How can I come to the party?

Sign up to attend The Lost New Year’s party through our upcoming Eventbrite page, and then check your email for the Zoom link as the date approaches. Tickets are free, and we look forward to seeing you there!

Do I have to arrive for midnight in my time zone?

You can enter the Lost House at any time during the 25-hour period,* and we will welcome you! If you would like to celebrate with friends in another time zone or perhaps experience midnight multiple times, you can! The same Zoom link will work for as many times as you’d like to join us.

*Note that there will be a short 5-minute break at 2:25 PM EST for the Zoom feed to reset. If your login fails at that time, just wait a few minutes and try again.
