Time present and time past

Are both perhaps present in time future,

And time future contained in time past.

If all time is eternally present

All time is unredeemable.

What might have been is an abstraction

Remaining a perpetual possibility

Only in a world of speculation.

What might have been and what has been

Point to one end, which is always present.

Other echoes,

Inhabit the garden. Shall we follow?

Quick, said the bird, find them, find them,

Round the corner.

Along the empty alley, into the box circle,

And the pool was filled with water out of sunlight,

And the lotos rose, quietly, quietly,

The surface glittered out of heart of light,

And they were behind us, reflected in the pool.

Then a cloud passed, and the pool was empty.

Footfalls echo in the memory

Down the passage which we did not take

Towards the door we never opened

Into the rose-garden. My words echo

Thus, in your mind.

But to what purpose

Disturbing the dust on a bowl of rose-leaves

I do not know.

The unheard music hidden in the shrubbery,

And the unseen eyebeam crossed, for the roses

Had the look of flowers that are looked at.

Descend lower, descend only

Into the world of perpetual solitude,

World not world, but that which is not world,

Internal darkness, deprivation

And destitution of all property,

Time and the bell have buried the day,

The black cloud carries the sun away.

The crying shadow in the funeral dance,

The loud lament of the disconsolate chimera.

Go, said the bird, for the leaves were full of children,

Hidden excitedly, containing laughter.

Go, go, go, said the bird: human kind

Cannot bear very much reality.

Time past and time future

What might have been and what has been

Point to one end, which is always present.

Image Description:

The Third Fate appears - looking both playful and mysterious while staring at the camera. They are wearing dark lipstick, a long sleeve black blouse and have short cropped platinum blonde hair. They are surrounded by green plants overlaying the video screen with lit candles flickering on a table directly at their waist. There is a plain blue backdrop behind them. The mood is as if you have found yourself in a secret garden grove.

The Fate holds up a card with the number two in roman numerals written at the top. The card is of a light skinned person with long brown hair. The person is holding a globe with pink and white flowers in front of it. The card remains on screen as its meaning is explained. The Third Fate brings the card back in close to their chest.

TheThird Fate holds another card to the camera. This one is of a single pink dandelion flower surrounded by a koy fish and falling petals. A banner at the bottom reads “Ace Of Cups”. And then is recoiled back and into the Third Fate’s other hand.

The Third Fate raises yet another card that reads “IV The Lovers”. This card features two snakes – one green, one red - intertwined with each other and within two hand drawn red roses. This card is then placed back into a pile on the table in front of the Fate.

Another card appears close to the camera. This card features a cascading design of a crescent moon, diamond shaped stars among a whirlwind of white flowing clouds. An illustrated person with a thick dark mustache is shown from the neck up. Their head is tilted downwards as if in deep contemplation. The card is then placed back into the pile.

Another is then revealed. It is of a person with a red feather in their long brown hair. They are wearing a multi-strand pearl necklace on a yellow dress. A white ribbon has been tied around their eyes. They appear to be holding a white flower – that is entwined with a black and white snake - to their nose. A banner across the bottom reads “The Fool”. The card is returned to the pile.

Then the Third Fate reveals the final card. It is a couple in embrace. One living and one a skeleton. The living person has dark black hair with an orange butterfly resting upon it. They have dark red stains of makeup around their eyes and a single tear drops down their face. A banner across their chest and shoulder reads “DEATH”.  The Fate turns the card upside down and brings it back towards their own chest before discarding it.

The Third fate stares into the camera as it slowly fades to black.
